Blacksburg Community Band

The Blacksburg Community Band is an all volunteer community organization formed in 1989 under the auspices of the Town of Blacksburg, Department of Parks and Recreation. The ensemble performs in an average of 25 concerts each year throughout the New River Valley reaching over 7,000 people.

The Blacksburg Community Band has three primary objectives:
  • Provide an opportunity for community members to rekindle their past interest in music. For those who have not played in 5, 10, 20 or more years, the band is a vehicle to enjoy and be involved in music again.

  • Encourage adults to begin a musical experience. For those who have always wanted to play in a band but never quite got around to doing something about it, the band provides the opportunity.

  • Provide live performances for the community, especially audiences who traditionally cannot afford to pay for live groups or who because of age and disability cannot attend performances.
